Word Is

We keep our ear to the concrete here at Pmove.net.  Sometimes, we come across some very interesting things.  Word Is is our new column where we will share some of the intel we come across about some of your favorite people in the entertainment business.

Word Is...

It's official!  The music industry has changed.  Instead of signing record deals, labels will soon look to build partnerships with artists so that they can recoup money from artists' tour money and other sources of income.  Live Nation has just signed Madonna to this kind of deal.  The deal is reported to be worth $120 million dollars.  Live Nation will put out 3 studio albums, promote her tours, sell her merchandise and license her name.  Look for more artists to sign such deals.  Also look for promoters, management companies and other industry entities to offer these kind of deals to artists.

Jim Jones signed a multimillon dollar deal at Sony Records.

Prodigy of Mobb Deep is about to do 3 1/2  years in the slammer on a gun charge.

I don't know if it is official, but I've seen video of  'Lil Wayne saying that The Hot Boys (Wayne, Juvenile, BG and Turk) are back together.

Saigon cold cocked Prodigy of Mobb Deep on stage at SOB's in NYC then got chased out of the building by Mobb Deep affiliates.  Videos are floating all over the internet.

New York mixtape heavyweight Papoose was recently dropped from his recording contract with Jive Records.

Jay-Z is going to drop another album in Nov '07.  The lead single, "Blue Magic," produced by Pharrell is receiving mixed reviews at radio.

It's pretty much a wrap!  In the battle of the hip hop titans, Kanye vs 50, the underdog has prevailed.  Kanye's first week sales numbers are in the neighborhood of 950,00 while 50 came in at about 670,000.

The long awaited comeback by your girl Foxy Brown will be on hold for at least a year.  All of the drama has finally caught up with her.  She'll be spending the next year in jail.

Jim Jones will be touring the five boroughs of New York with none other than 50 Cent.  This is new because Jones is the Dipset Capo and partner of Cam'ron.  Cam'ron and 50 exchanged diss songs and videos earlier this summer.  Of course, there have been rumors of beef between Jones and Cam lately.  There are even some rumors about Jones signing to G-Unit since he's kind of outgrown Koch.  Keep your eyes open.  This could get interesting.

That 50 Cent has lost all desire to make music.  He's said he was going to stop making solo records if Kanye West outsold him on their joint release date Sept. 11th.  Now he's saying he won't quit because he lost but because he's not really felt like making music for a while now.  So if 50 stops making records, who's gonna be the object of everyone's hatred?  Who's the next person you're gonna pray to God that he falls off?  My money is on Kanye.  With 50 not out there taking the heat for being overconfident and calling out everybody, Kanye's temper tantrums and perceived arrogance will get a lot more attention!  You know the drill.  Build them up to bring them down!
